When was the last time you did something within your role that was fun?

It may be more recent than you think. Isn’t each of our individual versions of fun, just how we think about it?

If we can adjust our point of view and recognise the benefit of a task within our role (to us and others around us), then perhaps we can convert our feelings from negative (sometimes even dread) to more positive.

Here’s a simple process to shift your mindset:
– Analyse your least ‘enjoyable’ task to understand why you don’t like.
– Recognise the benefits to you and others.
– Focus on the benefits to see the ‘enjoyment’ in giving it your best.
– Visualise the activity producing ‘Mental Endorphins’ like a workout.

Even from tasks you dislike, you may generate some innovative ideas on how better to achieve your ‘required’ objectives.

As Noel Coward once said, “Work is more fun than fun”.

If at least once a day you step outside your ‘comfort zone’ within targeted activities, then you’ll be expanding your potential in these key skills and the benefits to you are inevitable.

How often do you step outside your comfort zone, and can you see the fun side to it?
