In his bestseller ‘The Fifth Discipline’, Peter Senge details the only sustainable competitive advantage, is your business’s ability to learn faster than the competition.

According to Senge, learning organisations encourage a holistic approach called ‘Systems Thinking’ and he states that a learning organisation is a group of people working together collectively to enhance their capacities to create results they really care about.

Our recruitment businesses are ‘Complex’ operations, as our products and clients are people; they’re complex to manage, as can be our internal talent.

Systems Thinking, can therefore help us to ‘Zoom Out’ from the issues to evaluate what factors affect it, in an expansive process of problem solving that involves more input across your business.

As the Christmas close draws near, we have the opportunity to step back and take a more holistic view of our business and the specialist talent we have within.

By formalising the input from each recruiter across your business by producing their Q1 and full Plan for 2022, they have the opportunity to propose where they see themselves developing existing or new markets and what support the business can provide to maximise their potential.

At the very least as part of the Year-End / end Quarter presentation before the December celebrations, there may be worth in engaging in some break-out sessions for brainstorming on opportunities for 2022.

What structures do you have in place for your Talent to ‘Zoom Out’ and for your business to grow to being a Learning Organisation?
