A number of us play rugby and a range of other competitive sports (or will do again when Covid permits), so we know the link to recruitment.
As a Rugby Referee (with my playing days now behind me), I often think that there are some valuable lessons, that we as Recruiters can take from the game, so I thought I’d select a few and offer them up for all to ponder…
No. 1 is ‘Structure Breeds Creativity’
Johnny Wilkinson once noted the French team’s need to install Forward’s structures to enable them to benefit from their famous Gallic ‘flair’.
The same applies in recruitment.
I’ve highlighted in recent posts the importance of Quarterly and Annual plans for recruitment businesses to achieve their potential. This certainly applies to each billing desk.
For us to use our ‘flair’, we need well defined and communicated structures in place to achieve key Milestones, (not KPI’s). Plan to source quality candidates to work exclusively to introduce them to a shortlist of target clients, sourcing clients, more senior roles etc.
This gives us the ‘head room’ to apply our own style and personality to achieve agreed objectives.
What structures do you use to breed your creativity?
